How much do newborn photos cost in Las Vegas?

A newborn session with me is $450. That is one hour, in your own home or in the studio, and 15 professionally edited high-resolution images delivered through a private gallery within one to two weeks. Across Las Vegas, advertised newborn prices run from under $100 for a short milestone sitting at a mall studio to $800 and more for a long posed studio session with props and outfit changes, and the booking aggregators put the local average for a one-hour newborn shoot somewhere near $275.

Newborn pricing is the hardest of my sessions to compare, and it is not your fault for finding it confusing. The number on a photographer's website might be a session fee, a complete package, or a deposit toward prints you have not chosen yet. All three get advertised the same way. Here is what my $450 covers, why newborn costs more than maternity, and the three pricing models you are really choosing between at two in the morning with a baby asleep on your chest.

What does the $450 newborn session include?

One hour, at your home or in the studio, and 15 finished images. Finished means edited by me and delivered at full resolution through a private online gallery, usually within one to two weeks, with no watermark and nothing to unlock. You download them, print them wherever you like, and post them without asking me first.

There is no sitting fee stacked on top and no album you have to buy afterward to get your own photographs. Every session on the pricing page works this way: one price, edited images included. And the hour is not a stopwatch. If your baby needs forty minutes in the middle of it to eat and resettle, the session pauses and the price does not move.

Why do newborn photos cost more than maternity photos?

A maternity session with me is $350 and a newborn session is $450, and the $100 difference is practical rather than artistic.

A newborn hour is almost never a clean hour. Babies feed, get changed, spit on the blanket you just laid out, and need resettling twice before anyone is asleep. The time I hold for a newborn session is meaningfully longer than the time I spend photographing, and I would rather build that into the price than watch the clock while you are a week postpartum.

The date is also unknown when you book. A maternity session gets scheduled for a Saturday in October. A newborn session gets a rough window in your third trimester and a real date once your baby actually arrives, which means I keep flexibility open across a stretch of days I cannot sell to anyone else. Add the lighting I bring to your house and the warming setup a naked five-day-old needs, and the extra hundred dollars is roughly what that flexibility costs.

Which newborn pricing model are you actually comparing?

Almost every quote you will get in this valley is one of three shapes. Knowing which one you are looking at matters more than the number attached to it.

Mine is the first row. The question that cuts through all three in one sentence: what is the total for the session plus the files I get to keep? A quote that cannot answer that with a single number is not a quote yet.

Does an in-home newborn session cost more than a studio one in Las Vegas?

No. An in-home newborn session is $450 and a studio session is $450, and I have no financial reason to steer you toward one.

What the choice actually costs you is effort, and in this city that is not a small thing in September. Getting a six-day-old into a car seat when the interior of a parked car in Las Vegas is well past comfortable, then driving from Henderson to the far side of Summerlin and back, is genuinely the hardest part of a studio session. An in-home session removes all of it. One room near one window is the entire set, and there is no need to tidy the house.

The Las Vegas detail nobody warns you about is air conditioning. A newborn photographs best asleep and mostly undressed, which needs a room somewhere around 75 to 80 degrees, and valley homes in September are running the AC hard enough to sit well below that. We turn it down in one room about half an hour before I arrive. That is the whole preparation, and it costs nothing.

I book the studio instead when a home genuinely cannot supply the light — north-facing windows, heavy shade, or a floor plan where the only bright room is also the only room the dog is in.

What else should you budget for?

The honest list, in the order people forget them.

• A wrap or an outfit, if you want a specific look. Most people use what they already own. This is the line item most likely to grow if you start browsing.
• Prints. Your files are yours at full resolution, so you can print anywhere.
• Nothing for the location. This is the quiet advantage of newborn work in Las Vegas. Outdoor sessions here can involve a timed-entry reservation and a vehicle fee at Red Rock, or a ticket at Springs Preserve. A newborn session happens at your house or mine, so none of that applies.
• A sibling, if there is one. Also free, and worth planning for rather than improvising.

There is no image-unlock fee, no gallery expiration charge, and no upsell appointment afterward.

When should you book, and does waiting cost you more?

Booking late does not cost more money, because I do not charge a rush fee. It costs you the date, which in practice is worse.

Newborn sessions happen between roughly day five and day fourteen, and that window does not negotiate. Reserve a rough window during your third trimester and confirm the exact day once your baby arrives; two weeks of notice is the realistic minimum, and more than that from October through December, when the calendar collides with holiday sessions and everyone who postponed something over the summer. If your due date lands in that stretch, get the window on the books now rather than waiting for a sale, which is not coming — I do not price by season.

Is a cheaper newborn photographer a bad idea?

Not automatically, and I will not pretend otherwise. There are talented people in this valley charging less than I do, most of them earlier in their careers and building a portfolio, and some of them will be very good.

What I would check is not the price but two specific things. First, the delivery: how many images, at what resolution, how quickly, and with what rights. A $200 session that returns five low-resolution files costs more per usable photograph than a $450 session that returns fifteen. Second, experience with newborns specifically, which is a different skill from photography. Knowing how to settle a baby who has decided otherwise, and how to handle and support one safely while doing it, is most of what makes the hour work. I was a nanny for over twelve years before this was my job, and that is the part of it I lean on hardest.
